Happy Birthday, Brooks!

So, normally we like to post about our photo sessions and all the wonderful people in our images, but I thought that one wonderful person in particular needed a mention. :)  Brooks' 28th birthday was this past weekend and we had a blast celebrating!  An evening of great food at the Red Room in Raleigh, one awesome birthday girl, some fabulous friends & family, and even a little dancing made it a celebration to remember.  There were some beautiful flowers as well, thanks to Pam at Land's Florist & Gifts!  Really, really beautiful!  And, if you are looking for the best cakes around, you should check out Once in a Blue Moon Bakery in Cary.  This year we decided to celebrate Brooks' birthday with the Razzmatazz cake and oh my goodness it was SO GOOD!  I'm hoping she'll share some of the leftovers. :)  So, happy birthday, Brooks...I hope your birthday was as amazing and wonderful as you are!!  

Atlanta Photo Sessions

Welcome to Atlanta!  Jennifer/Brooks Photography is heading to Peachtree City for a week beginning March 23rd.  Jennifer will be in town visiting her lovely family and will be available for a limited number of photo sessions.  It is a GREAT time in Peachtree City to get some beautiful outdoor shots. jayce is 2!

Today, Jen and I spent some time with the Johnson family. They are friends of ours and we were looking forward to it because they are always lots of fun! This shoot was all about their youngest son Jayce. Jayce turned two years old last week and we had to celebrate with a little photo shoot, playing in the yard, getting on dad's new harley, and of course eating cup cakes!

Jayce was awesome today. He offered easy laughs (with the help of his dad), exuberant kisses, a sense of fun, and he REALLY loved his cup cake!

lovely ladies

Jen and I had the fortune of spending some time with two very lovely ladies this morning! Kenna and Maegan are two of the most beautiful girls we've ever met...and they were naturals in front of the camera. Kenna is full of personality and energy, and we quickly learned that with the mention of a "special treat" she would show us her best smiles! She also was willing to show us her dance moves and her "froggy teeth!" Maegan needed a little more tlc from her mom, but with some coaxing we got some beautiful shots of her. All she needed to make her happy was a pat on the back and a thumb in her mouth.

We had a great time with both girls, and we think the results were wonderful. 

land's florist & gifts part 2!

This weekend I had the opportunity to do a second shoot for Land's Florist & Gifts in Cary, NC. This shoot was all about the fantastic wedding work that Land's does. When I arrived Saturday morning, Tom Land had two of the most beautiful bouquets I had ever seen prepared for me! Everywhere I went people would comment on the gorgeous flowers I was carrying with me, and I would smile and let them know where I had picked them up. Later that day, when I had the chance to meet up with my business partner Jennifer, she said, "Can I put these pictures up at my house and pretend this was MY wedding bouquet?!" We laughed, and continued on with the shoot, but later we both had to comment on how excited we were to get to keep these lovely bouquets at our own homes. 

The Neilson Family

At the end of today's shoot, when we told Shelley how much fun we had with her and her family she responded with, "Ya'll need to get out more!" That sense of humor, combined with great ideas, adventurous spirit and a happy golden lab named Hailey was what made this shoot so much fun. This family tried everything we put out for them today...from climbing trees, to giving piggy back rides, and even hugging each other! They were game for anything and they challenged us with more ideas of their own. The Neilson's are a great family to be around, and we thoroughly enjoyed our day at the park with them!

Favorites

Jen's brother in-law, Steve Wilson (a computer wizard), was kind enough to help us post an online gallery of a few of our favorites photos from the first 6-months we have been in business. It is really fun to pick through them all and remember all the great times we've have with the individuals, families, and couples we've worked with. The hardest part was narrowing it down to just a few...we have such great memories attached to each shoot!

Motherhood is Beautiful!

One of our goals for 2008 is to photograph more pregnancies! Our first couple of shoots included some of the most gorgeous moms-to-be that you could imagine. We were so touched by the experience, that we just cannot wait until the next one. There is just nothing more beautiful that a woman who embraces the joy of her pregnancy by loving her body and the child within.
