Scot, Caden, the puppies and I all piled in the car for a trip to Atlanta today.  Car rides are always fun with a 2 year old, but add some furry friends and you are talking about some real fun!!  But, as long as we get a stop in at good ol' Starbucks, I can handle anything!  Grande, iced, skinny mocha...mmmmm!  We are hoping for a fun week filled with lots of family time, some photo time, and tons of Nana & Papa time for Caden.  He is a rockstar when he comes down here!  I'm really looking forward to hanging out with my two favorite girls (besides Brooks, of course!) Brookie and Sara.  Actually, they are hanging out with me right now, while I'm blogging playing some Carly Simon and Britney!  Doesn't get better than that!

All that learning gave us an appetite...had to stop for some T-bell on the way home (don't worry it's not really all for us, we do have families at home to feed)!

Jen and I had a fabulous time today at the Rockstar Roadtrip Workshop in Raleigh. Photographers Corey McNabb and Amber Holritz led us through a day filled with fun and information. Corey shared his ideas on sales, marketing and what he calls micro-composition for wedding photography (which will help so much with our upcoming weddings...we've now booked 4 and we are so excited!). Then, after a lunch break Amber taught us about lifestyle photography, building relationships with clients and her strategy on capturing those unforgettable moments in a child's life. The workshop was inspiring and really helpful. It is so awesome to hear the ideas, thoughts and strategies of two amazing, young photographers that are doing so well in the industry that they love. Jen and I were so excited after the workshop that we couldn't stop talking the whole ride home...well what else is new?! We never stop talking : )

Today I managed to persuade my mom to drive out to the beach with me to take some photos! The photos will be sold at Land's Florist & Gifts in Cary, NC next month. I really had to twist her arm to get her to come along...being that the beach is her most favorite place to be, whether we are in North Carolina or anywhere else in the world. : ) 

The drive down was filled with great conversation and music from my ipod. I introduced mom to Amy Winehouse for the first time, and she decided she needed some of that on her ipod too! It was a beautiful day and we were delighted to see the signs of spring along the way down hwy 87. We enjoyed walking the beach at Wrightsville and later scoped out a little crafts fair in Wilmington. Fish and chips on the dock at Elijah's was a must to finish off the day.

We can't wait to do it again soon!

having fun in portland

I just had to share some pics of my too cute niece and nephew (and one of my too cute pooh-bear!) that I took while my husband and I were out visiting his brother in Portland, OR.  It was a great visit and the kiddos really had a blast.  They hadn't seen each other in over a year!  Next get together is at the Outer Banks in September and I can't wait to get some shots of the kiddos playing on the beach!  Plus, I think the weather might be just a little bit warmer than Portland in March... :)

Happy Birthday, Brooks!

So, normally we like to post about our photo sessions and all the wonderful people in our images, but I thought that one wonderful person in particular needed a mention. :)  Brooks' 28th birthday was this past weekend and we had a blast celebrating!  An evening of great food at the Red Room in Raleigh, one awesome birthday girl, some fabulous friends & family, and even a little dancing made it a celebration to remember.  There were some beautiful flowers as well, thanks to Pam at Land's Florist & Gifts!  Really, really beautiful!  And, if you are looking for the best cakes around, you should check out Once in a Blue Moon Bakery in Cary.  This year we decided to celebrate Brooks' birthday with the Razzmatazz cake and oh my goodness it was SO GOOD!  I'm hoping she'll share some of the leftovers. :)  So, happy birthday, Brooks...I hope your birthday was as amazing and wonderful as you are!!

jayce is 2!

Today, Jen and I spent some time with the Johnson family. They are friends of ours and we were looking forward to it because they are always lots of fun! This shoot was all about their youngest son Jayce. Jayce turned two years old last week and we had to celebrate with a little photo shoot, playing in the yard, getting on dad's new harley, and of course eating cup cakes!

Jayce was awesome today. He offered easy laughs (with the help of his dad), exuberant kisses, a sense of fun, and he REALLY loved his cup cake!

lovely ladies

Jen and I had the fortune of spending some time with two very lovely ladies this morning! Kenna and Maegan are two of the most beautiful girls we've ever met...and they were naturals in front of the camera. Kenna is full of personality and energy, and we quickly learned that with the mention of a "special treat" she would show us her best smiles! She also was willing to show us her dance moves and her "froggy teeth!" Maegan needed a little more tlc from her mom, but with some coaxing we got some beautiful shots of her. All she needed to make her happy was a pat on the back and a thumb in her mouth.

We had a great time with both girls, and we think the results were wonderful.
